Research Associate: ENROLLER project | Arts and Humanities E-Science Support Centre

Research Associate
National e-Science Centre (NeSC)

£31,513 - £35,469 per annum

The ENROLLER project (Enhancing Repositories for Language and Literature Researchers) is a 2-year collaboration between the National e-Science Centre (NeSC), the University of Glasgow STELLA Project, the Newcastle Electronic Corpus of Tyneside English (NECTE) and the Scottish Language Dictionaries Limited (SLD), with other partners from commerce and higher education. The project is formally due to start on 1st June 2009 and will run to 31st May 2011.

ENROLLER aims to address a need for the arts and humanities and in particular the language and literature community which currently deals with distributed, non-interoperable repositories of data that are often license protected. ENROLLER will show that through development and support of a novel, security-driven infrastructure, seamless and secure access to distributed data resources with targeted analysis and collaboration tools will provide the language and literature community with new ways to undertake their research, and significantly enhance existing repositories. This will be achieved through supporting secure access to distributed resources with advanced authorisation tailored to researcher interests and needs through a user-and community-driven language and literature portal. This will facilitate a broad spectrum of research in the languages and literatures of the UK, with the longer term intent of providing a model which can be extended to other
humanities data.

This position is focused upon the specification, implementation and delivery of the ENROLLER infrastructure and exploitation of Grid and related technologies. This is a full time position, based at the NeSC at the University of Glasgow that will run for the entirety of the project.
